Citrus & Other Specialty Crops

Southeast Louisiana is home to the majority of citrus and specialty crop producers found in our state. The unique climate, alluvial river soils, and proximity to markets contributes to the success of these producers. The LSU AgCenter offers workshops on produce safety (PSA) and food safety, Private Pesticide Applicator (PPA) recertification, workshops, and annual commercial citrus, pawpaw (Asimina triloba) and heirloom seed field days. Additionally, a quarter acre research facility focused on citrus and other tropical fruit crops is located at Docville Farm, in Violet, Louisiana.

For assistance troubleshooting issues on your operation, soil testing, to connect to a specialist, to receive information, sign up for an upcoming training, or to join our specialty crop mailing lists, please email [email protected].
